Insomnia is a more normal condition than we might think, and many of us have experienced it at some point in our lives. Of course, technology can be a great ally in these cases, and Siri is no exception. Apple’s Virtual Assistant, available on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and Apple TV, can do more than just make calls, send messages or run shortcuts.
In AppleTime of Use, Siri Shortcuts and new Apple ID management: more leaks than in MacOS 10.15
If you want to fall asleep and you don’t manage to do so by turning on the TV or watching videos on YouTube, Siri can read you a bedtime story . But it’s important to know that this is not an easy task, because you will have to ask her over and over again to tell you a story to make it work, but in the end you will get an entertaining little story.
The first thing you need to do is to activate Siri on your mobile device, following these simple steps:
- Go to the ‘Settings’ of your iOS device.
- Then go to the ‘Siri and Search’ section.
- Activate the option ‘Activate via Hey Siri’ or if you prefer, you can activate ‘Start button to use Siri’
- Choose the language you prefer (for this experiment I chose English, but in Spanish you will also find a couple of entertaining short stories).
And that’s it. When you have activated the assistant, what you have to do is say ‘Hey Siri, tell me a story’, and be a little patient, because in principle it will not tell you a story .
Before a comforting result, you may receive answers like ‘I’m sure you’ve heard it before’ or ‘It was a dark and stormy night… no, that’s not it. If so, continue to ask him nicely to tell you a story , as it may take many attempts, but eventually, you will get a longer multi-paragraph narrative that begins like this:
“Once upon a time, in a virtual galaxy far, far away, there was a young intelligent agent named Siri…” , and which continues as you can see in this image:
So you know, among the many features Siri has, she can also help you have a fun time when you don’t have much to do, or when you are spending a long night at home without being able to fall asleep.
