Locating the Serial Number on AirPods and AirPods Pro
Generally we do not give importance to the serial number of our products. It is normal, if everything goes well it is not something we need to know, but as soon as there is a problem, a breakdown or we lose one of the devices, it is important to know this information.
Throughout this article I want to explain where you can find the serial number of the Apple AirPods or AirPods Pro .
So if you have a fault and need to send them in for service, need to check their warranty status, are thinking about buying new ones or need to file a theft report, you can easily locate the serial number of the headset and charging case.
Before we get down to business, it’s important to keep something in mind. On 2nd generation AirPods and Pro AirPods, each earpiece is printed with its own serial number. However, the important serial number in this case is the one printed on the charging case, since it is the main one and not the one on each earphone.
Inside the lid of the charging case
If you have the AirPod charging case with you, perhaps the quickest and most convenient way to find out the serial number of your AirPod is to look inside.
In particular the serial number is printed on the inside of the lid of the charging case . Just open it and look inside the lid, specifically in the space on the left earpiece, to locate the number.
It’s not a bad idea to write the number down somewhere safe. That way, in case you ever have a problem with your headset, you can easily retrieve it even if you don’t have access to any of the other methods of viewing the number.
In the headset box
The AirPod box itself also has the serial number of the AirPod. This option can be very useful if your headset has been lost or stolen.
To locate the serial number on the AirPod box, just look at the sticker on which the barcode appears . Right next to it, you will see a section identified as (S)Serial No. and then a series of numbers and letters, that is the serial number of your AirPods.
On the purchase invoice
If you purchased your AirPods or AirPods Pro from an official Apple retailer, you can also find the serial number on the invoice itself. This includes, of course, the Apple website or any of the Apple stores that the company has halfway around the world.
If you purchased them from a third party store that sells Apple products, the information may not appear, but it’s still worth checking out just in case.
From an iOS device
This option is only valid if you have your AirPods connected to an iOS device , i.e. an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch.
The process is as simple as accessing Settings – General – Information – AirPods. Once inside, the device will show you a series of important data about the headset such as model number, firmware and hardware version and, of course, the serial number.
