In the iOS 10.2 Settings there is a new section called aEthernet. In this section we can configure the settings to connect to the network via Ethernet (yes, the cable of a lifetime). What reason is there to enhance this in a phone that seeks to be totally wireless?
The functionality only appears if we connect an Ethernet cable using the Lightning adapter , at the moment it will appear in Settings and will allow us to modify IP, router, DNS and other data, similarly to the settings of a Wi-Fi network.

No, actually this functionality is more focused on iOS users working in enterprises . For example, it is common in a company if you work with an iPad Pro that you connect to the local network of the office. It’s certainly not the most convenient connection with Wi-Fi, much less an iPhone.
Until now, any iPhone or iPad could always be connected to the Internet via Ethernet, all you needed was a Lightning-Ethernet adapter to enable this. The process is to get an Ethernet-USB 3.0 adapter this adapter connect to the Lightning-USB 3.0 adapter, something quite cumbersome but useful at times.
