Finally after so many rumors and false positives related to the issue, IKEA officially confirmed that their TRADFRI bulbs will now be integrated with HomeKit compatible devices. This has been possible thanks to a firmware update for their gateway, and this way, users who have these bulbs only have to update the gateway so that their lights can be connected to HomeKit. It is important to note that TRÅDFRI dimmers and other accessories are not yet compatible.
The news was first published in some Swedish media, and was confirmed on the official Ikea Facebook page. According to The Verge, TRADFRI owners can find the device’s 8-digit HomeKit code in the recently released version 1.2 of the Ikea TRÅDFRI app , or printed at the bottom of recently released gateways.
It is now possible to control TRADFRI lamps with your iOS device thanks to the HomeKit compatibility
The most basic IKEA bulbs start at 9.99 euros, but the hub is the most expensive product of all. The IKEA entrance kit that includes the catwalk, a remote control and two light bulbs, is priced at ?79.99.
