iPhone and iPad users receiving emails from Windows can find files “winmail.dat” attached to the emails.
This type of file n o always opens correctly in the iOS Mail application , and since it can be anything from a text to a calendar invitation, it is sometimes necessary to open the attachment.
So today we’re going to explain step by step how to open the winmail.dat attachments on the iPhone and iPad thanks to TNEF Enough.
1. Close the iOS Mail application
2. Download TNEF’s Enough application to the App Store:
Re-open the Mail app in iOS and open the email containing the “winmail.dat” attachment.
4. Click on the file “winmail.dat” and select the option “Open in TNEF’s Enough”.
5. Assuming the file is readable, TNEF’s Enough will open and show you a list of available items in the attachment.
As you tell us from OSXDaily, the calendar files and Vcards can be accessed and imported just like you would in any other iOS app. If you don’t want to install the iPhone and iPad app, you can always use the Handoff function to move the message to a Mac.
Additionally, you can also use other similar applications such as Winmail Opener and Winmail Viewer.
