How to listen to podcasts directly from the Apple Watch without iPhone

If you’re a podcast enthusiast, you probably know some of the best applications to play them as an alternative to the official Apple application. One of these is Overcast, which recently reached version 3.0. Now, Marco Armet, the developer, has released version 3.1 and among other things you can listen to podcasts from the Apple Watch.
Once you have the application installed on your iPhone in version 3.1 you must do the following:
- Choose an episode and click on it
- From the options that appear in the bottom bar choose the add to queue icon
- Click Send to Watch
The episode will appear again in the download window but it’s not that it’s downloading again, it’s that is being transferred to the Apple Watch.
The process is somewhat slower than a download on the iPhone, as the entire episode must be transmitted to the clock. It will also depend a lot on whether you have an original Apple Watch or an Apple Watch Series 2. Once you have it on the Apple Watch, just hit the play button and it’s done.
Overcast is a free application with in app purchases but it works perfectly without them thanks to the advertising. The banner at the bottom is not annoying at all but if you decide to remove it by becoming premium you will also get a dark theme.
