WhatsApp… on iPad? Keep reading!
One of the most popular smartphone applications available today is, without a doubt, WhatsApp . The instant messaging application has managed to conquer people’s hearts, and today it is common for everyone to have this application installed on their smartphone. Of course, there are those who don’t yet have the app, but it’s usually the same people who don’t even have a data rate on their device; those who some people call ” expensive friends “.
This great app not only allows us to send text messages to our contacts , but it is also possible to send photos, videos, audio notes, contacts and even send our exact location in case our smartphone has geolocation capabilities. Undoubtedly, a very complete application and the sea of interesting.
Is it possible to have WhatsApp on iPad?
In the case of iOS, the app is initially only available for iPhone . The developers have not yet released an iPad version of the application and for the moment it is necessary to resort to certain ” tricks ” to get the instant messaging application on Cupertino’s tablet, something that many people are not likely to like.
We assume that the reason why this great messaging app didn’t make it to the tablet is that the application is associated with the user’s phone number, so on many tablets that don’t have mobile connectivity it wouldn’t be possible to configure it correctly, at least not by simply using the phone number. If they were to release a version for this type of device, they would have to complicate the registration system and also request an email address to make it compatible.
Maybe someday this will be a possibility, but today it is not possible to have WhatsApp on an iPad. Well, at least not officially, because there is always a way to do this kind of thing, even if the developers of the application don’t like it …
How to Install the App on iPads (thanks to WhatsPad)
In order to have WhatsApp on an iPad the first step will be to have the Jailbreak applied to the device. This is the only way we have to install applications that are not available in the App Store, so if you don’t support this method you won’t be able to have the app in your normal iPad or Mini. If applying the Jailbreak is something you don’t care about, in our category about this topic you can find the necessary information to perform this process.
If you already have your device with Jailbreak the next step will be downloading WhatsApp with the necessary modifications . Ideally this should be done from vShare, as this way you can get the latest version available.
Once it is installed, the following is to install the application WhatsPad . You can find it on the BigBoss repo (apt.thebigboss.org) from Cydia. Once both applications are installed you need to reboot the device. In addition, to force the app to display in full screen mode (it’s important to mention that “Wasap” will be displayed only as an iPhone app with 2X mode on any iPad), we can also install the tweak FullForce , available through Cydia.
Once restarted you can open WhatsApp. You will be prompted for a valid phone number at this time. You will need to enter a real phone number in this field, as you will receive an SMS with a code required for the application to work. It is important to mention that if you put the same phone number you use in the app on your smartphone, the account will only work on the iPad and you will not be able to activate it again on the phone for at least one hour .
Installing WhatsApp from a Computer
If you prefer to install on an iPad from a computer, it is possible to do so. As you can imagine, to install the application we will need to use some software that allows us to do this. Of course, iTunes does not allow this, as it is a modified application, so you will have to resort to iFunBox , an interesting tool to install software on the tablet in a very comfortable way.
- The first step will be to download the latest version of WhatsApp to your computer.
- Once downloaded, you will need to install the iFunBox application which is available for both Mac and Windows.
- Open the iFunBox application and choose the “Install App” option on the top bar, towards the center.
- In the new window that pops up, you have to choose the application that you have downloaded in the first point. The installation process will start and take just a few seconds.
- Once installed, it will appear on the iPad desktop, but you should not run it. The next step is to access Cydia and install the WhatsPad application and if you want the tweak FullForce to display at full size.
- Once WhatsPad is installed, you can run “Wassap” and follow the steps indicated on the screen to activate the application.
The steps to perform the installation of WhatsApp on an iPad are very simple, although it is important to mention again that to be able to do this installation it is necessary to have a device with the Jailbreak applied and that the application is not officially supported by those responsible, so it could fail and nobody will be responsible for it.
To run WhatsApp on the iPad you need to have performed the Jailbreak process . Therefore, the app can run on any model (1, 2, 3, 4, Air, Mini and Mini Retina with iOS 7 installed and Jailbreak applied).
