How to divide an Apple Watch workout into segments
When we perform certain types of training sessions with our Apple Watch we may want to divide them into segments . These segments help us to get a clearer picture of the different parts of our training.
Note that the division into segments has no effect on the total values of the workout itself, it is simply a way for us to order or mark the different parts of the session. We can create as many segments as we like, the steps are as follows:
- We opened the Train Us app on our Apple Watch.
- We played a practice to get him started.
- We mark the different segments with a double tap on the screen.

When doing so, we’ll see how the Apple Watch shows us, for a couple of seconds, the information of the segment we just marked , then it continues to show the total values of the training and continues to count. When we have finished the training session we simply end it as we would normally do, then we can consult the information, we will do it this way:
- We opened the Activity app on our iPhone.
- We go to the Training tab.
- We touched the little arrow to the right of Segments.
Depending on the type of training we are doing we will see one or other information for each segment. In general we’ll see the time spent on it, the distance travelled and the active calories invested.

In several cases, marking segments of a training session can be very helpful in helping us better understand how we have performed and where or when to improve. Fortunately, the Apple Watch offers the easiest way to do this.
