Four little-known but essential iPad board games

I have always advocated the iPad as a device capable of breaking through the mere barrier, making your screen a window capable of bringing several people around it to admire photos, enjoy videos or, the topic at hand, have fun with friends. One of these last options is the board games that have gradually been released on the tablet.

Because it seems that playing with the iPad can be relegated to enjoying the latest shooters on a larger, more visually comfortable screen, but we must not forget that its possibilities also include table games in which you against the machine or you against several friends can sit down and enjoy a good time. If you are tired of the classic proposals, here are some of the best, but also some of the less known, board games for iPad .

Four little-known but essential iPad board games

We all have our favourite board game, the one that when you decide that instead of going out you are going to stay at home always comes to mind as the first option to spend time in good company. Mine is Ticket to Ride , one of those games that are very easy to learn but very complicated to master when luck is not on your side.

The idea is to create several rail routes in different mappings. To do this you have a limited number of wagons and the possibility of drawing route cards that you will have to complete to add up the scores. There are always several routes, so trying to annoy your opponents by breaking their route possibilities ends up being more fun than just throwing yourself at winning.

Catan HD

Catan HD is the first of two conquest games we present to you. In this case the aim is to earn points by building houses and roads on an island. Each corner of the map has an area: mountains, meadows, forests; and a number.

The players roll the dice and depending on the properties of the box that comes out we will win more or less materials. We must take this into account because without these materials we cannot continue building, although you can always choose to trade with other players, if they let you.

Carcassonne

With Carcassonne we have another example of how much conquest games can give, although in this case the strategic component prevails much less than in the previous case. Here the luck and play of your opponents is much more important, so the piques are more than assured.

The idea is to create bigger and bigger roads and fortifications, always using the pieces that you have and in an established order. In other words, no matter how much you make a road with three pieces, you will not earn points if you have not got the one with two, and so on. Easy to play, easy to understand and tremendously addictive.

Bang! HD

We traded the boards for the cards and the Middle Ages for the Wild West. In Bang! HD three to eight players can play, each with a very specific role, so the need to adapt your strategy to each game makes the game not at all repetitive.

We have the Sheriff, the Outlaws, a Renegade and the Sheriff. The first must hunt down the second and vice versa, while the third must avoid being discovered before killing the Sheriff by surprise, and the last must help the latter in any way he can. Seen in this way it seems a bit convoluted, but it is starting to play and not being able to stop playing.
