Discover the New Waze Widget for iPhone 5s, 6 and 6 Plus
The GPS and traffic navigation application Waze for iPhone has received an interesting update in which, among other improvements, a new iOS 8 widget has been added to the Notification Center from which we can share road information with other users.
This handy iOS 8 widget is not the only new feature in the Waze 3.9.2 update , because features such as a new map configuration, change of ETA (Estimated Time Arrival) and a new look in some user interface elements have been added.
The truth is that Waze is not just another GPS navigation app, offers an exclusive and unique service to users that allows them to be part of a large community with the possibility of alerting other people about speed cameras, dangers on the road and sharing any other type of information.
Waze for iPhone helps us to make contact with other drivers in our area to find out where the police checkpoints are, what level of traffic is on a certain highway or, for example, now that it’s winter, which roads are in bad shape due to ice or water flooding.
Characteristics of the app
- It offers real-time maps, constantly edited by users and updated daily.
- Notifications of community alerts: accidents, hazards, radar, controls, road closures…
- Sending routes and journeys to other users and voice guided navigation.
- Estimated time of arrival of the trips and recognition of the most frequent destinations.

Now, let’s talk a little bit about Waze’s new iPhone widget. It allows us to send our route in real time to friends and family so they can get an idea of what time we’re going to arrive. It also allows us to check our estimated time of arrival or enter navigation with a tap , as its developers tell us from the App Store.
The widget is certainly useful as it will give us much quicker access to these functions with just a small slide on the iPhone screen, and allowing us to pay attention to the road at all times.

But, as we noticed before, a new map configuration has been implemented in the update that gives us the opportunity to switch automatically between the 2D and 3D view . Now, in addition, with this update a new function has been implemented to send the locations.
Finally, the sending of “I’m on my way” has been improved with a new design and layout , to keep our friends, colleagues or family informed about our journey.
