Calendar: location and events
When we schedule an event on our calendar we indicate the title, time, notices we want to receive, add notes, but what about the location? Adding the location where an event takes place opens up a couple of possibilities, in addition to having a clearer reference: receiving a notification at the time we have to leave and using the event to get route directions in Maps .
The process of adding the location is very simple, and is done in a very similar way on both our iPhone or iPad and our Mac.
On our iPhone or iPad

Adding locations for events on our iPhone or iPad is easy:
- We opened the Calendar app.
- Press the “+” on the top right.
- We wrote the title of the event.
- We play in the Location section.
- We write the name of the site we want to add, for example Apple Paseo de Gracia, or we touch Current location.
- We choose the result that interests us from the list below.
- If we wish we can change the time of the event and other details.
- We click on Add.
Once we have the event created it’s time to take advantage of a couple of features we have available in the events with location.
The first function is to obtain route directions to the location of the event. We can access these directions through the same calendar event. We simply touch the small map at the bottom and once in the Maps app we touch Route .
The second function is that Calendar will notify us with a notice at the time we have to leave to arrive punctually at the event. The process is automatic, when we add a location to an event the Second notice is automatically set to Departure time , although we can review it manually to make sure.
On our Mac
- We opened the Calendar app.
- Press the “+” on the top left.
- We wrote the title of the event.
- Press Enter (?).
- We touch in the section Add location.
- We write the name of the site we want to add, for example Apple Paseo de Gracia, or we touch Current location.
- We choose the result that interests us from the list below.
- If we wish we can change the time of the event and other details.
The function to get directions to the location, just like in iOS, is available by clicking on the map below the event, however, we would probably prefer to use it on our iPhone than on our Mac.
On the other hand, the departure time warning is interesting and, just like on our iPhone or iPad, is automatically configured . If you want to be sure, you can find it in the Notice section where you can choose Checkout Time .
At AppleWhat to do when Siri asks us to unlock the iPhone by asking her to call someone
Easy, right? It really is one of those big little functions that prove to be very useful when we know and use them regularly.
